Moonsighting for Shawwal 1438 (2017)

Eid Moonsighting 2017

Be part of a beautiful sunnah and come join us to sight the new moon for Shawwal 2017 / 1438H

InshaAllah the moon will be easy to spot this month, so it will be great fun for the kids! Bring some dates to break your fast + your prayer mat.

Moonsighting is a big part of Islam as we follow the lunar calendar. The Prophet s.a.w. has encouraged us to sight the moon by saying:

“Fast when you see the New Moon. Celebrate Eid when you see it again.”

When: Sunday 25th June 4:30pm (sun sets at 5:00pm)

Where: Cashmere/ Port Hills area (exact location will be emailed to you)

What to bring: Warm clothes, something to break your fast, prayer mat, ruler & optical aid (optional)

* We will be providing a moonsighting chart and giving a quick tutorial on how to sight the moon.

** Please note that parking is limited so we will have to restrict numbers. If possible, please organize to carpool with friends so that more people can attend!
