Moonsighting for Shawwal 1436 (2015)

**Registrations have been re-opened due to a change in location!**

Shawwal Moonsighting 2015

Be part of a beautiful sunnah and come join us to sight the new moon for Eid ul-Fitr 2015 / 1436H

Moonsighting is a big part of Islam as we follow the lunar calendar. The Prophet s.a.w. has encouraged us to sight the moon by saying:

“Fast when you see the New Moon. Celebrate Eid when you see it again.”

Register with us using the form below by Thurs 16th 5pm to join us for this scenic and spiritual communal obligation! InshaAllah the moon will be quite visible on Friday so with good weather we are hoping to see it. A great educational experience for the kids!

When: Friday 17th July 4:45pm (sunset at 5:14pm)

Where: Port Hills area (exact location TBC by email)

What to bring: Warm clothes, food to break your fast, prayer mat, ruler & optical aid (optional)

* We will be providing a moonsighting chart and giving a quick tutorial on how to sight the moon.

** Please note that parking is extremely limited so we will have to restrict numbers. If possible, please organize to carpool with friends so that more people can attend!
